It’s a statistic I can’t get away from….it literally has changed the direction of my ministry. Confirmed as recently as 2006 by the Barna Research Group, it defines a need that is too important to ignore. The numbers say that when a child leads the way in commitment to a church, you may only reach 3.5% of their families. When a women leads the way in commitment to a church, you will reach 17% of their families But, when a MAN leads the way in commitment to a church, you reach 93% of their families!
It’s an astounding number! When you reach men, you reach their wives, kids, grandkids, and who knows…… Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for children’s ministries, youth ministries, women’s ministries, Senior’s ministries, and the rest! I invested 10 years of my life as a youth pastor, and teaching “Pastor’s Parables for Little People” during Sunday Worship Services was a weekly part of my routine during my 15 years as a Senior Pastor. But I’ve discovered first hand the truth behind the statistics…..when I invest my time in reaching out to men and getting them involved in the ministry of the church, the families usually come right along with them!!
I’m excited to have the opportunity to bring my passion for the ministry to menhere at Crossroads and literally around the country. As part of our overall strategy here at Crossroads in leading folks through the 301 Class, where they will discover their gifts and be challenged to put those gifts into effective service, it is my hope to help identify those leaders within the Crossroads family who share my passion to see men’s lives transformed through a growing, vibrant ministry to men in our church! It’s not going to happen overnight, but as God leads us I believe we will see the results from investing our efforts where the “numbers” continue to point!!
